Art Biography:
1985:Dabbled with 'gouache' and painted 5 portraits/figures during the summer holidays; completed a few pencil sketches.
1989: completed a few more pencil sketches again in the summer.
2008: Took early retirement from teaching
2010: started painting!

I am a self taught artist. I have no art qualifications and in 1985 did a few paintings using gouache  during one summer holiday. I then did not paint for 25 years. I did however produce a few pencil portraits.

Most of my paintings are in acrylics, but since November 2013 I have started to use oils, another challenge for me. I paint whatever takes my fancy and look for inspiration in the world around me.

Three of my paintings were exhibited in the members gallery of SAA (Society for all artists) magazine PAINT. The most recent  being in July 2013 magazine, the painting is called ‘Autumn Glory'.

I have also received a ‘Highly Commended’ certificate from the SAA in their 2013 Artist of the year competition. Where my small painting called ‘Storm Brewing’ got into the top 90 of over 5000 entries.

I have had solo exhibitions in Telford, Shifnal, Shrewsbury and Market Drayton and I have had paintings exhibited  in Church Stretton and Bishops Castle (Shropshire).

Some of my paintings have found new homes in the UK,  South Africa, Portugal and The Czech Republic.

All my paintings are a challenge, but a happy and exciting one. I continue my journey.
